2022
2022 An unprecedented vintage!
While the region endured a never-ending summer, the second hottest ever recorded, the vines taught our vineyard team a masterful lesson in resilience. The vines didn’t just adapt, they gave their best in the face of adversity, offering a vintage of stunning balance.
The sunny, precocious nature of the vintage was evident throughout the year and put our teams to the test. Their expertise in viticultural practices was crucial in guiding the vines through this new era, with techniques adapted to each individual vine and «respectful of living organisms», according to Bruno Clenet, the vineyard manager.

Weingabriel – Rene Gabriel : 19 (14.11.2024)
Concentrated, deep, dark, powerful bouquet, blackcurrant, cedar, flint, black olives. Dense, multi-layered, powerful palate with lots of fine tannins, concentrated structure, dense, dark fruit, compressed aromas, very long, dense, full finish with lots of back flavours. Still has room for improvement.

I have never tasted a wine like ’22 Poyferré before because this is an absolute gem of a wine. This astonishing wine is a pinpoint accurate combination of power, fruit integrity, carefully controlled concentration, vital freshness and an immensely long finish. This is already a legendary Poyferré, and it is only half-made. I expect the rest of its élévage to bring even more composure and distinction. This wine completely blows me away as every element I look for in a great wine is here, and the assembly is precision personified.
JebDunnuck.com – Jeb Dunnuck: 97-100 (11.05.2023)
“This inky hued beauty offers that rare mix of power and elegance and offers ample cassis and assorted blue fruits, full-bodied richness, an opulent, concentrated, yet flawlessly balanced mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and plenty of classic Saint-Julien violets, espresso roast, and crushed stone-like minerality. Despite its incredible concentration and depth, it stays beautifully balanced. In a region that seems to only talk about finesse and elegance, it’s a relief to still have producers such as this producing powerful, intense, singular wines. Hats off to the Cuvelier family and their team.”
The Wine Doctor – Chris Kissack : 96-98 (08.05.2023)
There is a beautiful perfume on the nose, with a dark and precisely defined fruit profile, black plum and scented cherry, with inky veins of cocoa bean, tobacco and soot. as well as perfumed notes of verbena, lavender and peach. The palate shows superb harmony, initially caressing the palate with glossy black and perfumed fruits, intertwined with the same floral notes seen on the nose, and it retains control of the palate through the middle, keeping the subframe of finely grained tannins hidden from view, even though you can sense them, draped with dark chocolate and smouldering tobacco, through the curtain of fruit. This is stunningly good, with dark, savoury, tobacco-infused fruits running through to the finish. An excellent result, with a long simmering grip of ripe tannins.
The Wine Cellar Insider – Jeff Leve : 97-99 (04.05.2023)
“Deeply colored, the floral display in the nose gets even better as you encounter black cherries, currants, licorice, tobacco leaf, cassis, and an array of spices. The palate provides layers of silky, fresh, pure, deep red berries. The wine is dense, concentrated, sweet, ripe, fresh, and polished. There is a wonderful sense of purity in the fruit. Effortless to taste, and even even easier to drink, the wine exudes sensuality, and complexity from start to finish.”
