Léoville Poyferré 2018 earned the #7 ranking in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of 2021

Each year, Wine Spectator editors select the most exciting wines they’ve reviewed for their Top 100 Wines amongst thousands of tastings.

It is therefore of great pride for us to be included, especially in the very closed circle of the Top 10! Our 2018 vintage ranked 7th position and obtained the score of 97/100.

A superb distinction for this vintage with extreme climatic conditions, wildly rocked by an alternation of wet and dry periods. An unusual equation that finally gave birth to a vintage combining elegance, complexity and balance, now rewarded!

Tasting note, James Molesworth

“Waves of warmed cassis, mocha and warm tar aromas lead the way, while the core of macerated plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit waits its turn, showing admirable breadth and depth when it arrives, with roasted apple wood, bramble and cast iron buried deeply through the finish. This is a powerfully rendered wine with a cashmere scarf as accent. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2040.”
