A year late wasn’t too late for a united family who knows how to enjoy a great get together!
In 2020, the Cuvelier Family celebrated its centenary as owners of Château Léoville Poyferré. Unfortunately, the health crisis had stopped the festivities for an entire generation who has been driven by the same long-term passion for its Saint-Julien estate.
The event was finally able to take place on the 4th of September, under a radiant sun, in true Cuvelier style – being from the North of France – famed for their sense of hospitality.
Sara Lecompte Cuvelier, fourth generation to preside over the destiny of the Second Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien, and her sister Anne Cuvelier masterfully planned a weekend packed with festivities to mark this momentous occasion that was full of joy, laughter, and history.
During the afternoon, the family headed to the heart of the vineyard, by horse-drawn carriage, by bike or on foot, where beautiful almost ripe bunches announced the next harvest, before joining the tranquillity of the vat room and the cellars.
The opportunity for these witnesses of the soon to be born vintage, to meet the driving forces of the estate and pay tribute to their know-how.
One of the highlights of the event: a very lively wine casino! Fabulous entertainment for all, beyond rewarding the most assiduous with prizes, made it possible to strengthen ties around a common passion: wine. Each participant was able to get acquainted with the timeless style of Léoville Poyferré and awaken to the Cuvelier philosophy… while having fun!
