It is with deep emotion and great sadness that we pay tribute to Michel Rolland. A visionary oenologist, he played a decisive role at Léoville Poyferré in elevating the quality of the estate’s wines.
It is with deep emotion and great sadness that we pay tribute to Michel Rolland. A visionary oenologist, he played a decisive role at Léoville Poyferré in elevating the quality of the estate’s wines.
Didier Cuvelier, then managing director of Château Léoville Poyferré, first met him in 1988. Very quickly, a conviction took hold: at a time when neighbouring châteaux were relying on the same consulting oenologist, he chose Michel Rolland to set the estate apart and to modernise the style of its wines.
In 1994, we became the first property on the Left Bank to work with Michel, marking the beginning of a long-standing partnership.
The year 1998 opened a new chapter with the start of the Argentine venture, alongside Michel, Bertrand Cuvelier and the partners of Clos de Los Siete.
Today, we continue the work initiated by Michel with Julien Viaud, upholding the same exacting standards and shared pursuit of precision that drive us.
We will remember Michel as a deeply committed and passionate man, an indefatigable and insatiable worker, whose intuition and talent will continue to inspire and guide us for many years to come.
We extend our heartfelt support to Dany, Marie and Stéphanie, and share their grief with profound compassion.
