Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré 2021

2021 A victorious vintage!

“Surprise is the test of true courage”, Aristotle. Our teams have had courage in spades in the face of the increasingly unpredictable nature of the vintage. Keeping on the path of excellence with patience and dedication, interpreting with expertise and experience what nature entrusts to us.

Yet willing to follow our intuition, to take risks, to adapt, to take up challenges every day and to win battles. This is precisely what being a winemaker is all about. And this year, we have experienced all its contours to be rewarded with the pleasure of a fresher style vintage letting ourselves be captivated by its purity of fruit and elegance.

Press reviews

JebDunnuck.com – Jeb Dunnuck : 89-91 (01.06.2022)

“I love what this estate accomplished in 2021, and the second wine, the 2021 Pavillon De Léoville Poyferré, offers a forward, medium-bodied, elegant, undeniably delicious style that’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate. It has some classic darker, blue fruits as well as notes of spice and tobacco, followed by a round, medium-bodied, supple, elegant red with that classic Poyferré richness.”

Inside Bordeaux – Jane Anson : 89 (16.05.2022)

“Attractive tannic frame, careful extraction and a cold soak before fermentation has helped keep the emphasis on raspberry and blackberry fruits, with linearity rather than generosity. A touch of bitter fennel notes on the finish but this is enjoyable.”

Vinous Media – Antonio Galloni : 90-92 (10.05.2022)

“The 2021 Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is soft, pliant and super-refined, with bright acids lifting a core of dark red cherry/plum fruit. Spice, new leather, tobacco and cedar all meld together in a pliant, wonderfully expressive Saint-Juilien to drink now and over the next decade.”
