Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré 2019

2019 A temperate vintage, sunny side up.

Tranquil, 2019 was able to elude the risk of spring mildew. Although bud break was relatively early, and flowering occurred under cool, damp conditions, the arrival of summer heat favored a promising vintage. Is 2019 “solar”? This summery vintage is indeed one where climate played a dominant part of the terroir.

Endowed with charm and beautifully balanced ripeness, will this be another outstanding Bordeaux vintage ending in 9 ?

Press reviews

Decanter – Georgina Hindle : 93 (02.03.2022)

“Deep purple colour in the glass. Heady on the nose, perfumed and floral. Quite strong with the aromas flowing out the glass. Lovely impact straight away, this is clear and well defined, a core of bright fruit – linear and quite a lean style of fruit but good definition supported by gently grippy, chewy tannins. Lots of potential here. I like it, even if the tannins are on the powerful and muscular side right now.”

AlexandreMA.com – Alexandre Ma : 91 (02.02.2022)

“A wine that shows the definition of “chocolate-powdered tannins”, ultimately discloses the mastery of the winemaker’s management of oak barrels. Every layer of the luscious wine is strongly accented by the fragrance of candied cherry and plum. Only a lighter coffee bitterness on the finish would add more surprising joys.”
