Château Léoville Poyferré takes up residence in the heart of London

On November 2nd, we welcomed journalists and wine professionals in the intimacy of a Victorian house in the lively Soho district. Each room was reinvented to create a sensory journey, from the special terroir of Saint-Julien, the history of the estate, and finally to the tasting of our wines.
Sara Lecompte Cuvelier was keen to pay tribute to her ancestors, as well as the longer history of the château, by tracing back two centuries through texts, family and team portraits that decorated the “history room”. At her side, Isabelle Davin, our oenologist, introduced each guest to the specificities of the Saint-Julien terroir, thanks to the projection of a film and a giant display of the vineyard plots in the “vineyard room”.
Before discovering Château Léoville Poyferré 2020, our guest tasted through a range of vintages, reflecting the diversity and personality of each one through the secular know-how of our teams.
Once Château Léoville Poyferré 2020 was revealed, the details of which pay homage to our enduring terroir, we raised a glass of Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2018, the perfect English bubble to celebrate this special occasion.
Finally, guests were treated to a fabulous four course dinner in the refined atmosphere of the dining room, where fascinating discussions continued with large format bottles being served to perfectly complement the beautifully seasonal & local produce.

Mezcal Sombra Reposado was served as a surprise, a project close to one of the family member’s heart, this mezcal is aged in Château Léoville Poyferré barrels!
