2020 - Léoville Poyferré

Château Moulin Riche 2020

Although 2020 will resonate for a long time in people’s minds as a vintage associated with an unprecedented context of a global pandemic, fortunately, the elegant generosity that characterizes the wine comes as a great comfort and concludes a trilogy of extraordinary vintages.

The weather took an unexpected turn on June 19th, with the appearance of a brilliant sun that marked the true beginning of the summer season. The maturation period that followed right up until harvest was much warmer and drier than the average. However, miraculous storms mid-August mark a real turning point in the vintage, allowing the vine to reach its potential and achieve perfect maturity of the grapes.

Upon tasting, Château Moulin Riche 2020 expresses its true generosity, supported by a beautiful share of Petit Verdot that brings depth to the blend. The creaminess on the palate fulfills any taster, from the novice to the expert palate, with immediate pleasure.

JamesSuckling.com – James Suckling.com : 92 (28.12.2022)

“Focused and fine with graphite, tar, blackberries, dried herbs and tobacco smoke on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with excellent balance and very fine tannins. Sleek and seamless.”

Matthewjukes.com – Matthew Jukes : 17+ (11.04.2021)

“This is an expressive vintage for Moulin Riche with a robust, full-frontal attack of juicy Cabernet coupled with a decent sprinkling of tannin which certainly pricks the palate with its raw energy. The oak is prominent on the nose but more settled on the palate and there is more than enough gras to leave a nice, long aftertaste here. With finely sooty tannins and a lovely rebound of black cherries and dark chocolate on the finish, this is an impressive wine and one which will age like clockwork. As always, there are more than enough Saint Julien traits here to keep fans of this commune happy and it has an LP signature running the length of the palate, too, so purists will be impressed, too.”
