Château Léoville Poyferré 2015
The 2015 vintage, the magic of the number five.
The number 5 keeps its promise. Everything in 2015 contributed to the making of a remarkable vintage.
A cold winter, punctuated rainfall and the warm summer sun ensured perfect development of the vines and grapes throughout all the key stages of the growing season.
The human touch will make it an exceptional vintage.
Press reviews
Vinous Media – Neal Martin : 95 (04.06.2025)
“The 2015 Léoville Poyferré is a delightful Saint-Julien that instantly has you smitten. Vivacious red fruit, briary and orange pith aromas unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins (like before). It is very harmonious and poised with a finish that just sashays along without a care in the world. Wonderful.”
Decanter – Georgina Hindle : 96 (21.07.2022)
“Crunchy, mouth filling and chewy, such generosity of flavour and texture really expands in the mouth. It has a spiced touch still, clove and cedar which adds a picquance to the palate and focuses this less on the overt fruit more on the structure and depth of the mid palate where all the flavour lingers and layers up. Such a complex wine, where you can really tell all the different aspects have been well handled..”
JamesSuckling.com – James Suckling : 94 (03.02.2018)
“A ripe, generous and substantial wine for this appellation with some real concentration. Plenty of beautiful currant and blackberry character, as well as a solid core of ripe, dusty and velvety tannins and enough acidity to carry the long, savory finish. Slight lean now. Better in 2024”
Decanter – Jane Anson : 96 (12.07.2018)
“Sumptuous and perfectly balanced, the 2015 Poyferre seems to have outshone both Leoville Barton and Las Cases (the latter is pretty unyielding now and needs lots of time). There is an intense, fleshy, dark fruit core with fine, polished tannins and a lingering, fresh finish. It’s very elegant . Although Saint-Julien was affected by rain, there’s no sense of dilution here. It finishes with a highly appealing stony, mineral textured aftertaste.”
Vinous Media – Antonio Galloni : 93-96 (01.02.2018)
“The 2015 Léoville Poyferré is simply magnificent. Rich, creamy and voluptuous in the glass, the 2015 captures all the best qualities of the vintage in spades. Layers of flavor blossom in the glass as the wine fill out its broad-shouldered frame with impeccable grace. A host of floral notes, including violet, lavender and rose petal grace the utterly exquisite finish. There is so much to like here. Specifically, the interplay of ripeness, texture and freshness is compelling.”
